Mission


* The African Leadership Empowerment Council (ALEC) is a US 527 political organization under the IRS Code promoting the Continental African participation in the American political mainstream as well good governance and democratic transitions in Africa.

 

* ALEC promotes leadership and community involvement at the local, state and national levels with a focus on creating sustainable and institutional partnerships between the government and the Continental African community.

 

* ALEC addresses public policy issues, immigration, health and other issues affecting Continental Africans at all levels and functions as the African Diaspora Leadership Voice in partnership with other African bodies to leverage good governance, Human rights, Justice, Freedom, the rule of law and democratic transitions in Africa.

 

* ALEC promotes voter education, mobilization efforts and  issue advocacy. In a more collaborative and participative approach, ALEC will also function through its Commission on African Affairs to provide a strategic direction on creating an African Political Voice in the American political process.

 

* The organization will equally provide strategic planning on issues affecting Africa and work in partnership with the African Union, other democratic and Human rights organizations for the socio-economic and political development of the continent.

 

* Through its Commission on Sister Cities International, the organization will create and coordinate a Municipal Sister Cities Consortium for Africa, with a Sister City Consortium in each African country.

 

* ALEC is also strongly opposed to terrorism and totalitarian regimes in Africa and around the world.

 

Vision


 

* The African Leadership Empowerment Council envisages building a strong African Political Voice in the US and promoting a greater participation of the African Diaspora in the democratic transitions and good governance in Africa.

 

* Form an African Political Lobby Group at the Local, State and Federal levels, including but not limited to the State Department, the US Senate and the US Congress on issues affecting Africa and Continental Africans in the United States of America.

Goals


 

* The Leadership Africa Initiative seeks to promote the African Diaspora Partnership for democratic transitions in Africa through public awareness and conferences; Work with other democratic and Human rights institutions to create social awareness; Promotes Good Governance, stable and progressive democracies; Crafts compelling messages for bad and undemocratic governments in Africa.

 

* The Leadership America Initiative aims to encourage and promote the participation of Africans and African-Americans in the American political mainstream through grassroots mobilization, voter education activities, public forums and dissemination of voter education guides; Community involvement, community network and volunteer service. Leadership America takes on the challenge to create awareness for Continental Africans in promoting political and civic participation in the American political mainstream, campaign volunteering, and Candidate Forums.

 

* ALEC organizes Fund Raising activities and seeks donations to promote its various political, educational and social programs. The ALEC also seeks to promote and recognize individuals who are making a difference in their countries, communities and in public policy issues through its Annual Leadership Awards Program.

 

* Establish an African House, a one-stop-shop for Human and social services, New Immigrants and Immigration counseling, Food Stamps, health and medical assistance, activity Hall for business, workshops, conferences and celebrations.  

 

Executive Positions in ALEC


Every position in the Board of Directors or Executive of the African Leadership Empowerment Council is based on a generally acceptable public credibility, credible profile, trust, honesty, loyalty, confidence in self and in organizational shared vision. Must have legal status in the United States and with credible record in native country, and a strong commitment for organizational success, enthusiasm and passion to be a Real Team Player in a complex political environment. Must be able to interact with US elected officials at all levels, foreign dignitaries, Presidents and Heads of Governments in a diplomatic, respectful, responsible and professional manner.
