The African Leadership Empowerment Council (ALEC) is a US 527 political organization under the IRS Code promoting the Continental African participation in the American political mainstream as well as governance and democratic transitions in Africa.
As a 501(C) (3) non-profit sister organization, ALEC Education and Housing enhances community and institutional partners' capacity for initiating and sustaining relationships for community-based programs and activities. The organization engages year-round in corporate and individual tax deductible fundraising activities, solicitations and contributions for the ALEC-African House--A One Stop Resource and Assistance Center--ALEC Scholarship Fund , ALEC Community Service, Health and HIV/AIDS education, and ALEC Social Services Programs in the US and Africa.
ALEC promotes leadership and community involvement at the local, state and national levels with a focus on creating sustainable and institutional partnerships between the government and the Continental African community. ALEC addresses public policy issues, immigration, health and other issues affecting Continental Africans at all levels. ALEC functions as the African Diaspora Leadership Voice in partnership with other African bodies to leverage good governance, Human rights, Justice, Freedom, the rule of law and democratic transitions in Africa. ALEC promotes voter education, mobilization efforts and issue advocacy.
